Airshow Information

About Shuttleworth

Shuttleworth is a world-class vintage airshow venue. Our venue is intimate, with airshows attracting visitors of up to 7,500. We have a grass runway, suitable for a wide variety of vintage aircraft to land-in. Parking is free and on our grass paddocks and parkland. Many visitors choose to watch the aircraft display from the area around their own vehicle, or there are also picnic benches. Our curved display line offers great views from multiple angles, and is great for photography!

We offer a great venue that has entertainment for all ages including a play area. All airshows also include entry to The Collection hangars and The Swiss Garden, of which there are free tours. We have a restaurant and outdoor catering pods. Almost all activities such as bus rides and Discovery Zones are free (occasional visiting attractions may charge). Camping can be booked for all of our airshows.

Parking/flying in

We have a number of slots available for those wishing to fly in (PPR required) – please read our airfield information and book your slot in advance. Coach parties and groups welcome, discounted entry applies if pre-booked – please see our groups information. We have Disabled parking for blue badge holders, coach parking, and wood blocks for motorcycles.

Sunday airshows

Our Sunday airshows are filled with entertainment for the whole family. Discovery Zones have a range of activities that children (and parents!) will love including Airfix Make & paint models, interactive Bofors fun experience, and STEM-based challenges.

Our vintage buses offer free rides to The House, which is open to visitors from 10.00-14.00. The Swiss Garden offers a free tour and is open to the public until dusk. There is a pilot chat on one of our aircraft, live music, vintage vehicle parades, and a variety of traders. Flightline tours are pay-on-the-day, and the aircraft are parked close to the fence throughout the day for good views.

A shuttle bus runs between Biggleswade railway station and our site, pay on the bus (no pre-booking required).

Flying begins at 14.00 and finishes around 18.00-18.30, depending on whether we are able to fly our famous Edwardian aircraft.

Saturday airshows

Our Saturday airshows are known for their relaxed atmosphere and are where the light can be at its best to see the Edwardian aircraft if the weather is calm and favourable enough for these incredible aircraft to take to the skies.

The best feature of our evening displays is ‘Uncovered’ before the flying display begins – it’s where our visitors are given public access to the airfield between 13.00-17.00 (times may vary) to get up close to a selection of our aircraft and talk to our volunteers and ground crew about what it takes to maintain these interesting machines to flying condition.

Our vintage buses offer rides around the aerodrome (please note The House is not open for these events) and there is a free Swiss Garden tour.

Flying begins at 18.00 and finishes around 21.00-21.30, depending on whether we are able to fly our famous Edwardian aircraft.

Getting here

Entrance to our airshows is via the Old Warden village entrance. This is clearly signposted for each event. Approximately 15 minutes before flying begins, Hill Lane is closed. We are two miles due west of the A1 just off the roundabout at Biggleswade, approx 20 miles from J13 on M1. Postcode for SATNAV: SG18 9EP
