Saturday 13 October 2018
The Shuttleworth Collection is really pleased to be bringing back the photography night shoot in 2018. This hugely popular event will be on October 13th and is a great opportunity to get images of select aircraft and vehicles with atmospheric lighting.
The event will start at 5pm, giving visitors a chance to capture images in the lovely ‘blue hour’ when day turns to night. Three aircraft will be set up on the idyllic grass airfield with flood lighting illuminating them in both static poses with re-enactors and with engines running later in the evening.
2018 will see the night shoot debut for the newly restored Spitfire, which will give you a chance to see the flames from the fighter’s merlin engine exhausts. Back by popular demand, the Westland Lysander will also be giving a demonstration of how it would have looked at night, when landing on an occupied French field. If the weather allows, it is hoped to have one of the collections older aircraft also taking part. In addition to the aircraft, some of The Collections wonderful vehicles will be displayed alongside the aircraft and a special set up with our beautiful buses will add something rather special to the night.
This event is open to anyone with a camera, but it is recommended that you have a basic understanding of night photography in order to make the most of the event. The use of flash will not be permitted during the engine run part of the evening and it is recommended that you use a tripod if you have one. A great deal of thought is put into the layout of our event to ensure that all those attending have a chance to get a good view and capture great images. Our official collection photographers will be on hand to offer advice if needed and there will be a welcome talk from our Shuttleworth team.
The entry price includes a hot drink and meal with a time set aside for you to enjoy this hospitality during the event. We aim to conclude the engine runs by 21.00 so that you can be on your way home at a practical time.
