Long-standing volunteer with The Shuttleworth Collection, George Ellis, has sadly passed away after a long-term illness. A former Deputy Chief Pilot, George had flown most of The Collection’s aircraft, whilst also assisting ground side. He flew 2,300 hours with the RAF, with almost 10,000 since as a civilian pilot, many of which were on the various versions of the HS/BAe 125.
More recently he was a commentator for The Collection’s airshows and was due to perform this duty for this year’s Season Premiere but sadly the change in his health prevented this. A warm and funny man, George was a very popular figure at Shuttleworth, and will be very sadly missed.
