The Grotto & Fernery restoration

Almost all of the teams worked on the Grotto & Fernery. The building team took the structure back to its bones and then the ironworks conservators cleaned, repaired and painted the cupola and conservatory wings.

After that, the glaziers installed thousands of hand-cut panes of cylinder glass, and simultaneously, the builders and the lead workers restored the roof, including reinstating hundreds of original tiles.

Inside, the stonework conservator repaired the Pulhamite, planting pockets which were then filled with soil by the horticulture team ready for planting by the gardeners.
