Jubilee Fly-In + Food, Music and Much More

Following the success of previous fly-ins at Old Warden, we have decided to host a Fly-In to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Whether you come on foot, by vehicle or even fingers crossed by air! This is a wonderful way to spend a bank holiday while marking the Queens marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

What's happening in the day

The Visitor Attraction will open as normal from 10.00 – 17.00. Explore almost 60 acres of Shuttleworth, including the famous Shuttleworth Collection, the beautiful Swiss Garden & the historic Lakeside Parkland with views of Shuttleworth House plus the children’s playground. Shuttleworth gift shop and Runway Cafe. 

Added Extras

  • Picnic in the Swiss Garden on this special occasion visitors will be permitted to bring their own food and drink into the garden. Find a sunny point, position your blanket and soak in the stunning scenery
  • Wheelbarrow Garden Competition see the amazing wheelbarrow gardens created by lower and primary schools in Central Bedfordshire with the theme of the Queen’s Jubilee
  • Kids Trials collect a copy of the latest kids trails from Admissions on arrival. Trails in the Swiss Garden and Collection Hangars
  • Queens Regular Rides car clubs are located on the paddocks outside the Hangars, see some wonderful classic cars including one owned by the late HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
  • Aircraft Fly In although we do not have an air display planned we have invited local pilots in all shapes and forms to visit us, so look to the sky or walk along the flight line to see what you can find
  • Vintages Vehicles to be confirmed

Catering

  • 10.00 – 17.00 The Runway Café serves breakfast, lunch, snacks and ice cream
  • From 17:00 The Refuelling Station and Flying Burger Van with its famous posh burgers

What's happening in the evening

If you wish to stay past 17.00 please do we have a wonderful selection of elements to enjoy from food to music, evening strolls and hopefully some evening flying from the visiting pilots.

  • Drinks the Refuelling Station Bar will be serving hot and cold drinks plus a beer or two until 21.00
  • Food the Flying Burger with a choice of Beef, Chicken or Vegan will be open until 20.00
  • Car Clubs we hope our daytime car club guests will be a stay of the evening, giving you a chance to view the Queens Regular Rides
  • Seating bring your own tables and chairs or picnic blanket
  • Aircraft Fly In although we do not have an air display planned we have invited local pilots in all shapes and forms to visit us, so look to the sky or walk along the flight line to see what you can find
  • Live Music join us on the paddock outside the hangars for live music from the below local artists


Sam Neighbour

Acoustic guitarist and singer using a classic style to pull off some modern pop music. Smooth vocals and strong tone catch the attention of audiences with ease. Sam is a great addition to add atmosphere and charm to any event.

 

 

 


Troi Parker Roth

Troi Parker-Roth is a passionate singer and talented acoustic guitarist from Hertfordshire. She specialises in acoustic popular covers that appeal to a wide audience, including songs that range from the 1930s to the present day.

Pleasure Flights

Experience an exhilarating introductory flight experience in the beautiful 1940s T6 Harvard, The “Wacky Wabbit”. When you climb into the cockpit, you will be transported back to the 1940s as your senses experience the sight, sound and smell of this vintage Warbird.

T6 Harvard Aviation offer a limited number of flights at this air show prior to the flying display. Each flight lasts approximately 20 minutes. Flight cost per person: £399. Video also available: £50

Aircraft – Why not take part?

Come be part of the fun. For those visitors wishing to fly into the event, we have a limited number of PPR slots available. In order to book your slot, please email the Control Tower: john.demain@shuttleworth.org or call John de Main on 07875 028876. Please note that a landing fee of £10.00 is not applicable for aircraft partaking in fly in and static display.

Car Clubs – Why not take part?

We are looking for car clubs to fit with our theme of Queens Regular Rides. If you have a Rolls Royce, Range Rover or Land Rover club and would like to display it at our event please contact groups@shuttleworth.org to register. Entry for owners and all passengers on board at £10.00 per vehicle payable in advance, no event ticket required. If you have a car club that would like to join and is not one of the styles above, please contact us to see if we can get you in.

Camping

The Shuttleworth Camp Site is located on Grade 2* Historic Parkland nestled between magnificent trees with a clear view of the airfield. Camping is available only for self-sufficient camping – tents, caravans, folding campers and motorhomes. All must have their own washing and toilet facilities. We provide no hookup, toilet or washrooms. 

In order to camp over the weekend, you will need both an airshow ticket and a camping pitch ticket for booking and more detail Click Here.
