ModelAir – Mayfly 2023

We look forward to welcoming you to our first ModelAir Aeromodelling weekend of the year, presenting a unique opportunity for all ages to enjoy this wonderful sport in all model disciplines: Free Flight, Radio Assist, Radio Control, Control Line including Combat and Carrier Deck.

ModelAir has organised events for aero modellers for over 20 years, part of a 40-year history of aeromodelling events at Old Warden Airfield.

Unlike other model flying events, ModelAir is a Fly-in designed for you to fly in a relaxed atmosphere, for pure enjoyment, with no pressure to perform or to compete.

Competitions in all three disciplines and the Junior Build & Fly Competition are held on both days. Details will be published here: www.modelair.info and on the ModelAir Facebook page: ModelAiratOldWarden.

ModelAir weekends are for everyone to enjoy, not just aero modellers: there is plenty for all visitors to see and do. The RC Flight line, open from 10am – 6pm, has light-hearted commentary throughout the day to keep you entertained, and Free Flight & Control Line are fascinating to watch.

Competitions

Although some pilots take the competitions seriously, ModelAir run most of the competitions as a light-hearted way of recognising the skill and expertise of modellers at the weekend flying events. On some occasions, awards have been won by pilots who didn’t know they were being judged – much to their surprise and delight, of course!

Competitions are usually run on the Sunday of each event. To be included in the competitions, models must have been flown successfully.

All pilots please note and abide by new CAA regulations.

For more information please visit www.modelair.info and www.facebook.com/ModelairAtOldWarden

This event is operated under BMFA/CAA regulations: the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) is the body elected by the Royal Aero Club to be responsible for all aspects of flying model aircraft in the UK.
