Race Day 2022

Rounding off the 2022 season, our Race Day air show brings together wings and wheels along our grass runway.

Expect to see vintage cars thundering down our runway in sprint style, before a flying display with speed firmly on the menu!

Shuttleworth Sprint

Sprint car - Enter the SprintOur increasingly popular annual Shuttleworth Sprint* returns for the the sixth year running, and is quite an exciting spectacle to watch race cars and motorcycles of old racing down the runway!

The Shuttleworth Sprint is open to:

  • Pre-1939 Veteran, Edwardian & Vintage Race and Sports Cars
  • Pre-1939 Veteran, Edwardian & Vintage Road and Race Motorcycles

After the Sprint, vehicles will be on display to the public in an undercover paddock.

To enter your car or motorcycle into the Shuttleworth Sprint please complete the SPRINT ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.

*Please note that the Sprint is not timed, non-competitive and no race licences are required.


Period Paddocks

To complement the Sprint, we invite owners of vintage & classic vehicles to showcase their pride and joy in the paddocks and gather together to celebrate Richard Shuttleworth’s motoring legacy.

The Paddock categories are:

  • Pre-WWII Period Paddock – Pre-1939 Veteran, Edwardian & Vintage road & race cars and motorcycles
  • Post-WWII Period Paddock – Post-WWII, 1950’s, 60’s, 70 and 80’s classic cars and motorcycles
  • Classic Race Car Paddock

Vehicles will be on display to the public, and owners and drivers are encouraged to interact with the public to talk about their vehicle’s history.

To enter your car or motorcycle into one of the Period Paddocks please complete the PADDOCK ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.

Car & motorcycle clubs are also very welcome; please contact us to request group booking details.

Shuttleworth Collection

Open all day.

View our amazing collection of aircraft, vintage vehicles and several heritage exhibits in our hangars. Most of the Collection is in flying / working condition, so some of the exhibits may be flying or exhibited outside during the event.

Shuttleworth House

House open: Timings TBC

Explore the glorious Victorian residence of the Shuttleworth family. Take a tour around a selection of the rooms which are full of original period detail, including a Victorian Grand Piano, enormous chandeliers, gold-leafed ceilings and panelled walls.

To get to the House, you can choose to walk from the Swiss Garden via the Shrubbery Walk, or alternatively hop on board the Vintage Bus which stops in front of the hangars.

On non air show days, the House is used for a variety of Shuttleworth events, and can be hired exclusively for weddings and other events.

Swiss Garden

Shuttleworth’s Swiss Garden is hidden romantic treasure of 10 acres of landscaped gardens, and lies adjacent to the hangars and Shuttleworth House. Wander among splendid shrubs and rare trees, around tiny islands and ponds and over intricate ironwork bridges. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for our two resident peacocks!

All areas of the garden are accessible for wheelchair users and there are toilets available in the garden.

Please note dogs are not permitted in the garden.

Children's Playground

Looking for an activity to entertain the young ones? Our large play area with climbing frames, slides and swings is suitable for children up to 12 years old.

Please note that dogs are not permitted inside the playground.

Discovery Zones

Check out our ‘Discovery Zones’ located in and around the hangars. You’ll find a wealth of activities to keep the kids entertained – and maybe even the adults!

Flightline Tours

Tour timings: TBC

Get up close and personal with the aircraft on a Flightline Tour for just £10 per person, with a knowledgeable guide on hand to talk about the aircraft and answer your questions.

Tours are in small groups of four people and last for approx. 45 minutes.

Vintage Bus Rides

Enjoy a ride aboard one of our 1920’s Vintage Buses – our Double Decker, the only surviving Charabus or the glamorous White Rose!

Pleasure Flights

Due to the Shuttleworth Sprint taking place on the airfield prior to the air display, we regret we are unable to offer pleasure flights in the T6 Harvard at this event.

However, T6 Harvard Aviation offer a limited number of flights at all our other air shows. Visit the T6 Harvard Aviation website to book your flight at another air show.



Air Show TradersSpend some time browsing and shopping for a variety of aviation memorabilia, gifts, souvenirs and crafts along our trade area, located opposite the collection hangars.

Visiting Pilots

Due to the Shuttleworth Sprint taking place on the airfield prior to the air display, we regret we are unable to offer PPR slots for visiting private aircraft at this event.

However, we offer a limited number of PPR slots should you wish to fly into one of our other air shows. View the full list of Air Shows.



Wild Camping

Camping is available for self-sufficient camping – tents, caravans, folding campers and motorhomes with their own washing and toilet facilities.

Available from Friday – Monday only with a minimum two-night stay.

All campers receive complimentary access to the daily Visitor Attraction but are required to purchase an air show ticket in addition to the pitch fee.

Shuttleworth Gift Box

The Shuttleworth Gift Box is a wonderful gift for either a friend or a loved one. Presented in a gift box with a gift card and Shuttleworth keepsakes. Just add to your basket in the ‘Book your tickets’ section at the top of the page. Air Show tickets must be purchased separately.




Please note: the gift experience can only be posted to addresses within the UK. We aim to post all gift boxes within 7 days of purchase by Royal Mail, all gift boxes will be posted 2nd class.
