Shuttleworth House Open Weekends

Looking for something to fill your weekends in January 2024?

Shuttleworth House will open to the public free of charge from 10:30 – 15:30 on the dates below…
Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st January 2024
Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th January 2024

Come along to Shuttleworth House and have a look around – explore the grand rooms of this former family home and learn about the rich history of the House through the decades since it was first built 149 years ago!

With expert volunteers on hand and a huge array of informative exhibits on display we hope to see you in the new year.

Visit the Grade II* House set within the historic Lakeside Parkland. Inside, the rooms are full of original period detail, including a Victorian Grand Piano, enormous chandeliers, gold-leafed ceilings and panelled walls.

You’d be excused for thinking this is a Jacobean manor house, with its mullioned windows and warm honey stone. In fact, it’s a Victorian homage by the famous architect, Henry Clutton, built-in 1875 for Joseph Shuttleworth, Richard’s grandfather. The clocktower, however, is a definite Victorian giveaway!

Free entry, no ticket required – donations welcome!
