Best of British 2024

The start of our 60th anniversary of air displays begins with our Best of British Air Show on the 12th May!

A popular event in previous years, our Best of British Air Show commemorates the history of aviation and automotive technology in Great Britain, as well as the influence it has had across the whole world. Shuttleworth is proud to house the oldest airworthy British aircraft, aeroplanes that have played their part in defending the British skies, as well as racers, gliders, motor vehicles and agricultural equipment that all could be classed as the very best of what this country has created.

The day will feature thrilling air displays from both the Shuttleworth Collection of vintage aircraft, as well as dramatic performances from a host of visitors that will be joining us across the UK.

Shuttleworth air shows are perfect for all ages, with ground attractions, our Discovery Zones, as well as delicious food and drink that can be located across the whole Shuttleworth site.

To get away from the noise and buzz of the airfield, why not pay a visit to our RHS Partner Swiss Garden, which will be open throughout the day for a more relaxing change of scenery.

Like most air shows at Shuttleworth, children enter for free, and early bird tickets are on sale now for a reduced price on adult tickets!

Interactive Discovery Zones

The Discovery Zones at Shuttleworth air displays are buzzing with engaging interactives aimed at all ages.

The very young are really excited to be given the chance to pilot the Joystick Club’s awesome pedal planes. The disappointment felt by those too tall to fit in them is soon tempered by the opportunity to construct and launch their own stomp rocket with YES or to design and build their own chuck-glider with Time & Space Learning.

Simulators are always popular, be it the British Gliding Association’s K13 cockpit simulator, WAHT’s superbly visceral Rocking Nacelle WW1 cockpit sim or the Joystick Club’s incredible Tomahawk and Seneca cockpit sims.

It is not all about flying, though – Shuttleworth’s Discovery Team will always have a really fun activity for you to build and take away, such as their ever-popular pop-pop steam boats or rapid racers.  Budding artists of all ages can try their hand at creating a work of art with the Art for All Roadshow. And those who like their creations to be on a smaller scale can sit down with IPMS Brampton for the free Airfix Make n’ Paint workshops.

New for 2024

Build a 1/3 scale Hawker Hurricane with Sci-Hi Education, immerse yourself in the Mark Rutherford School’s Incredible Planetarium, have creative fun with the Charlie Moore Art Club and Time & Space Learning’s Aer0naut School.
