Discovery Zones
Interactive Discovery Zones
The Discovery Zones at Shuttleworth air displays are buzzing with engaging interactives aimed at all ages.
The very young are really excited to be given the chance to pilot the Joystick Club’s awesome pedal planes. The disappointment felt by those too tall to fit in them is soon tempered by the opportunity to construct and launch their own stomp rocket with YES or to design and build their own chuck-glider with Time & Space Learning.
Simulators are always popular, be it the British Gliding Association’s K13 cockpit simulator, WAHT’s superbly visceral Rocking Nacelle WW1 cockpit sim or the Joystick Club’s incredible Tomahawk and Seneca cockpit sims.
It is not all about flying, though – Shuttleworth’s Discovery Team will always have a really fun activity for you to build and take away, such as their ever-popular pop-pop steam boats or rapid racers. Budding artists of all ages can try their hand at creating a work of art with the Art for All Roadshow. And those who like their creations to be on a smaller scale can sit down with IPMS Brampton for the free Airfix Make n’ Paint workshops.
New for 2024
Build a 1/3 scale Hawker Hurricane with Sci-Hi Education, immerse yourself in the Mark Rutherford School’s Incredible Planetarium, have creative fun with the Charlie Moore Art Club and Time & Space Learning’s Aer0naut School.
