In Focus: The Sopwith & Hawker Story
- 13 February - 12 April 2026
2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the Spitfire, an aviation milestone that introduced one of the most influential fighter designs of WWII.
To honour this extraordinary aircraft, we're aiming to assemble one example of every airworthy Spitfire mark currently in the UK to tell the story of the Spitfire. These iconic aircraft will appear alongside wider Collection and visiting aircraft displays.
We'll also be celebrating the heroes behind the Spitfire's success with a de Havilland DH.60, the same aircraft the Spitfire's designer R.J. Mitchell flew in to understand how flying works, as well as our Collection's own Percival Mew Gull - the exact aircraft which Spitfire test pilot Alex Henshaw broke the London to Cape Town record in.
And, as always, you'll still have the chance to enjoy fantastic free ground activities including a fun fair, interactive Discovery Zones and more.
Come and spend a glorious summer day at Shuttleworth.
All aircraft and vehicle appearances are subject to weather and serviceability.
Fun for kids big and small (and those who are still kids at heart).
